مَنْ كَانَ عَدُوًّا لِلَّهِ وَمَلَائِكَتِهِ وَرُسُلِهِ وَجِبْرِيلَ وَمِيكَالَ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَدُوٌّ لِلْكَافِرِينَ

যিয়ে আল্লাহ, তেওঁৰ ফিৰিস্তাসকল, তেওঁৰ ৰাছুলসকল আৰু জিব্ৰীল আৰু মীকাইলৰ লগত শত্ৰুতা পোষণ কৰিব, তেন্তে (জানি থোৱা) নিশ্চয় আল্লাহ কাফিৰসকলৰ শত্ৰু’।)

What is Ruhul Qudus رُوحُ الْقُدُسِ in the Quran and Islam?

When the populace asked the Prophet what the Ruh (what we refer to as the soul) was, God gave him the explanation found in the verse below and instructed him to recite it to them:

وَيَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ الرُّوحِ قُلِ الرُّوحُ مِنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّي وَمَا أُوتِيتُم مِّنَ الْعِلْمِ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا

“They ask you about the Ruh الرُّوحِ; say: "The Ruh is of my Lord’s Command (أَمْرِ رَبِّي) and of knowledge, you have been granted only a little." (Al Quran # 17:85)

وَيَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ الرُّوحِ ۖ قُلِ الرُّوحُ مِنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّي وَمَا أُوتِيتُمْ مِنَ الْعِلْمِ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا

আৰু সিহঁতে তোমাক ৰূহ সম্পৰ্কে প্ৰশ্ন কৰে। কোৱা, ‘ৰূহ মোৰ প্ৰতিপালকৰ আদেশঘটিত আৰু তোমালোকক অতি সামান্য জ্ঞানহে দিয়া হৈছে’।)

Defining a command is generally considered a straightforward process in the current era of computers and software. The term "command" is typically used by computer experts to refer to an instruction or set of instructions that a computer system can execute.

So, if you take the human body with all its traits as a computer system, then the soul, or Ruh, is the command or set of commands from God (أَمْرِ رَبِّي ), as stated in the verse above. God also claims that He has provided us with very little knowledge of Ruh in the scripture. As a result, we have never been able to comprehend the Ruh completely.

The wonder of science is that as you learn more about it, you learn more about how God's laws work. American astronomer and academic Maria Mitchell, who discovered Miss Mitchell's Comet, once said:

“Scientific investigations, pushed on and on, will reveal new ways in which God works and bring us deeper revelations of the wholly unknown.”

Now, what exactly does Qudus mean?

The literal meaning of Qudus is holy or divine. So, Ruhul Qudus means Divine Instruction or Divine Command; similar to Amri Rabbi أَمْرِ رَبِّي – Command of your Lord, as in verse # 17:85 mentioned above.

Consequently, contrary to what is often believed, Jibreel or other angels are the "carriers" or "messengers" of Ruhul Qudus, which are God's commands. In the Quran, angels are referred to as Malaikah.

Here is one more verse to ponder:

“So, when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of my RUH, then fall down to him in prostration." (Al Quran # 38:72)

فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُ وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِنْ رُوحِي فَقَعُوا لَهُ سَاجِدِينَ

‘এতেকে যেতিয়া আমি তেওঁক সুষম কৰিম আৰু তাত মোৰ ৰূহ সঞ্চাৰ কৰিম, তেতিয়া তোমালোকে তেওঁৰ প্ৰতি ছাজদাৱনত হ’বা’।)

In this verse, God is referring to Adam's creation. Therefore, the verse is meaningless if you interpret RUH to represent Angel Jibreel.

EDIT:

Please have a look at verse 16:2, where the terms "Angel" and "Ruh" both appear, proving that "Ruh" does not imply "angel" or "Jibreel."

يُنَزِّلُ الْمَلَائِكَةَ بِالرُّوحِ مِنْ أَمْرِهِ عَلَىٰ مَنْ يَشَاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ أَنْ أَنْذِرُوا أَنَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنَا فَاتَّقُونِ

তেওঁ নিজ বান্দাসকলৰ মাজত যাৰ প্ৰতি ইচ্ছা নিজ নিৰ্দেশত ৰূহ (অহীসহ ফিৰিস্তা) প্ৰেৰণ কৰে এইবুলি যে, তোমালোকে সতৰ্ক কৰা, মই বিনে আন কোনো সত্য ইলাহ নাই; সেয়ে তোমালোকে মোৰ তাক্বৱা অৱলম্বন কৰা।)

"He sends the angels (ٱلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةَ), and through them reveals His command (بِٱلرُّوحِ) to His servant _ whomever He chooses _ that there is no god except Me! So, fear Me." (Al Quran 16:2# Translation- Dr. Munir Munshey)
