What is the difference between Al-Qur'an and Koran?

The Qur'anic root is Qaf-ra-alif (قرا);  With which four types of words are created in Mahagrantha.  It comes mainly as a noun and a verb.

At the outset it is important to know that when a word is formed with 'Al' (The) or Alif + Lam (ال), it specifically refers to a subject/object.  So 'Al (ال) + Qur'an (قرآن)' when placed together will mean the specific Qur'an by Al-Qur'an.

(Arabic definite article اَلْ is very much similar to the English definite article “the”).

So what is the meaning of Qur'an (قرآن)?

Qur'an (قرآن) means reading, reading, study, read, study, lesson, recitation.  These words are nouns.

What or what subject lesson, Study, lesson?

The text of any subject is the Qur'an (قرآن).  For example, the great book is Qur'anan Arabia (قُرْاٰنًا عَرَبِيًّا) (12:2) i.e., Arabic language lesson/reading/reading/study, lesson.

12:2 Verily I have sent down (اِنَّآ اَنْزَلْنٰهُ) the Arabic text/recitation (قُرْاٰنًا عَرَبِيًًا) - so that you may understand (لَّعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُوْنَ)!

Any article, book, book written on any subject in Arabic;  The text can be Qur'anan Arabia.  So what is Al-Qur'an?  How is Al-Qur'an different from all other texts/recitations/readings?

It was done by adding Al (ال) to the word Qur'an (قرآن).  "This special text/recitation" is distinguished by the term al-Qur'an (القرآن).  You can say Al-Quran (القرآن) or THE READING without translating.

You also sometimes say, “Where is that book of mine…?”  Even if there are tons of books at home, everyone will understand that you are looking for a particular book.  Because you are looking for 'book' (noun) by adding the indicator 'that'.

The word 'al' refers specifically to the Qur'an 50 times in the text;  Which is a proper noun.
Also, Al-Qur'an (القرآن) is indicated without mentioning the word.  That count has been dropped.

8 times out of this Al-Qur'an (الْقُرْآنُ);  23 times Al-Quran (الْقُرْآنَ), 19 times Al-Qur’an (الْقُرْآنِ)

Let's look at a simple translation example.  His house was broken into.  What is English?  His
house was broken?! Of course not.  Here, house is not meant, but rather his family or family.  They are divorced, got seperated.. etc.

Or, you are rich, you have a lot of money;  But you don't understand what I mean.

This sentence has two 'meaning' words.  One meaning - Money, wealth, another meaning - Meaning.  Surely only Bengali will understand.
(অথবা, তুমি ধনী, তোমার অনেক অর্থ; তবে তুমি আমার কথার অর্থ বোঝো না।

এই বাক্যে দুই ‘অর্থ‘ শব্দ আছে। একটার অর্থ- Money, wealth, আরেকটার অর্থ- Meaning. নিশ্চয়ই বাঙ্গালি মাত্রই বুঝতে পারবে।)

Or, speak, will speak well.  Here too, the two 'words' are not the same!

Likewise Al-Qur'an (القرآن) and just Qur'an (قرآن) are not the same thing!

✅ As a verb or VERB, Quran (قَرَأْتَ) means- read, recite etc..

Do you remember - Iqra bismi rabbi kallazi khalaq: Recite in the name of your Lord who created.  96:1

See again 16:98, 17:45.  Here it is also said – Qarayat Al-Qur’an….. Meaning: Read Al-Qur’an…..

Or, see 10:94, 17:71.  Here you will find 'Yaqrauna Al-Kitab يَقْرَءُونَ'.  That is, those who recite/will recite Al-Kitab….

75:18 Then when We recite it (Qur'ana-hu قَرَأْنٰهُ) then you follow that recitation (Qur'ana-hu قُرْءَانَهُۥ).

Qur'an appears as a verb twice in this verse.  Both times are translated reading/reading/reading.  Because, "Al-Qur'an" cannot be written here even by force!?

Now if you want to read the correct and pure translation, analyze the interpretation, you must remember these fundamental differences.  Otherwise, the major mistakes of conventional translation will not be noticed.
